In Västerbotten County, there are major hydropower plants on the rivers Skellefte, Ume and Ångerman. Normal annual production in the county is just under 13 TWh. Västerbotten County produces 20 per cent of Sweden's total hydropower production and approx. 10 per cent of Sweden's total electrical power production.
