The land area of Halland County is 5,719 sq km. Most of it, 53 per cent, comprises forestland where spruce is predominant.
The county has one lake larger than one hectare in area. Of the county’s 3,149 islands, five are inhabited. The county town, Halmstad, dates back to the 13th century.
