Explanation

Municipal library administrations annually submit information for statistics on municipal public libraries. Every municipal library system with appertaining head libraries and sub-libraries, including municipal libraries at care institutions, is regarded as one unit. In addition, 38 independent libraries are included in public library statistics, as well as the Talking Book and the Braille Library, the Sigtuna Foundation Library and the Swedish Seamen's Library. As of year 2001, the libraries for Swedes abroad are no longer included.
