Consumption of electricity in manufacturing and mining

The annual survey of electricity and district heating describes production and consumption of electricity, district heating and gas. Companies engaging in the following operations are included in the survey:

• Transmission of electricity.
• Electricity trading.
• Generation of electricity. This requires a power source of at least 100kW. The limit for private use only is 400kW.
• Generation of heat.
• Distribution of district heating.
• Production and distribution of town gas, distribution of natural gas.
• Power plants, district heating plants and independent heating plants that form part of the above-mentioned companies.

The annual survey of electricity and district heating is a comprehensive survey. It includes approximately 1000 companies comprising about 170 supply companies and 830 others, approximately 1500 power plants and heating plants as well as 8 gasworks and natural gas distributors.
Electricity transmitted to the end-user is specified not only nationally, but also by county for industry, houses and blocks of flats. However, the county survey has limitations due to insufficient data provided by certain supply companies on the regional distribution of transmitted electricity.
